Starting in Venice, The Last Dance will host a series of happenings and one-off events* over the summer period. The project will then travel back to Britain for the latter part of the holiday break, with a finale event to mark the end of summer and the culmination of The Last Dance.
Throughout the trip, an on-going collection of images and last dance songs will be made. Artists met along the way are invited to submit both an image and a song, the collection will be on display at the closing event back in the UK.
* Short-term, impromptu events with an emphasis on ‘making do and getting by’ evolving into more frivolous pursuits. Playful banter is intended, acting as a starting point for artists and curators to form new conversations and collaborations.
The Last Dance has been set up by Rachel Butcher and will run during the summer of 2011. The project is part of the Invigilator Plus scheme organised by the Arts Council of Wales for Wales in Venice.
